History

SAFE+ Certification GmbH (safecert) was founded in 2014 under the name PSI-cube GmbH. The focus of its activities was the processing of applications for approval for substances that are to be used in contact with food or drinking water. In the first few years, safecert had its own laboratory in which migration studies were carried out for applications for authorization. However, the laboratory had to be closed in 2019 due to personnel changes. The company relocated from Augsburg to the Fünfseenland region west of Munich. At the same time, safecert accompanied the development of the new German legislation for drinking water contact materials in the form of legally binding evaluation criteria (BWGL) and has become an accredited certification body in March 2023.
